TerraTrike was featured in the Wall Street Journal article titles "These Aren’t Tykes on Little Bikes: A Mature Market Adopts the Tricycle".
"Tricycles are so hot that some of them are selling for thousands of dollars. But the new three-wheelers aren’t designed for tykes. They’re for grown-ups.
Recumbent tricycles—reclined, cushy versions of the three-wheelers many tooled around on as children—appeal to people of a certain age by being gentler on the body than traditional bikes, and more stable than two-wheel recumbents."
Las Vegas magician Penn Jillette of the duo Penn & Teller is an owner of a pink TerraTrike tandem and was quoted "You feel like a superstar, but you look like a dweeb,” he says. “People aren’t used to trikes, but I love mine. I feel like [Jimi] Hendrix when I’m riding it, and I don’t care what I look like."

With close to 200 riders registered, the first annual TerraTrike Rider Fest will feature a 22 mile group ride - all entirely on tricycles.
TerraTrike is the largest manufacturer of recumbent tricycles in the world and popularity has grown steadily over the past 18 years from when the company started from a drawing on a cocktail napkin at a Christmas party in 1996.
“In the past few years we’ve seen an explosion of new riders,” states Marketing Director Jeff Yonker.“ This event is a celebration of our passion for the sport and a way for us to connect with our extended family of customers. When you purchase a TerraTrike you become part of a very special club. It’s going to be fun to see that many trike riders in one place.”
Customers from as far away as South Carolina are planning on attending and will start the morning with a ride on the beautiful White Pine trail from Belmont to Cedar Springs Michigan and back. The afternoon then continues with games, lunch, raffles and entertainment at the TerraTrike headquarters in Grand Rapids Michigan.
The event is open to the general public, regardless of if you are a current owner or not. “Come to the afternoon event even if you are just curious,” states Yonker. “There will be plenty of opportunities to test ride and talk to to enthusiasts.”
Information and times as well as registration for the event can be found by clicking here.

TerraTrike owner Dave Langkamp has spent the last year and over 600 hours building a velomobile using his TerraTrike Tour II.
Dave was a designer for John Deere for 20 years and is now retired and loving every minute of it. he gets to design and build and play to his hearts content.
"After one years time and 600 hours of designing and building I officially declared at 7:00 pm tonight that my Radius T-T velomobile project is completed. It has been a long and fun process to create what you see here. For those of you who do not already know the name Radius T-T comes from radius being the rounded shape of my design and T-T being short for TerraTrike which is the recumbent trike that is the heart of the machine."
Enjoy the pictures below and check out his blog that chronicles the entire building process!

The TerraTrike offices and showroom will be closed this Friday and Saturday July 11th & 12th for inventory. We will resume operations and be back open Monday July 14th.
As not every TerraTrike employee is needed for inventory, half of the TerraTrike staff will be volunteering at a local Habitat For Humanity site helping frame in a new house for the day. We enjoy giving back to our community and strongly encourage others to do the same.
It’s just another way that we try to be "Part Of The Solution."
