TerraTrike sees banner growth in Q1, bolsters sales team with new hire
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Building on its best growth period to date, TerraTrike, the largest manufacturer of recumbent tricycles and tricycle accessories in North America, is expanding its dealer sales team with the addition of Jessie Gater.
Coming from a strong management and sales background in the online automotive market, Gater will join the 15-member team at TerraTrike to build on the success of the dealer sales department and expand the recumbent trike market.
While celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2016, TerraTrike reached the milestone of over 200 dealers nationwide. Already in the first quarter of 2017 the company has seen a 25 percent increase in sales, up from 15 percent last year over the same period, and added eight new dealers.
“We’ve realized pretty amazing growth over the past few years and Jessie is coming along at the right time to nudge those numbers even higher,” said Jeff Yonker, marketing director at TerraTrike. “Her solid analytical skills and proven track record of creating lasting partnerships will be a huge asset to TerraTrike as we continue to increase our market share and expand the brand.”
Prior to joining TerraTrike, Gater worked as an advertising consultant and a senior management representative at two national automotive marketplace websites. Gater graduated from Taylor University with a bachelor’s degree in business management.
TerraTrike’s growth is being fueled by two primary groups: avid cyclists who prefer the sturdy comfort of TerraTrike for bike touring, bike camping and carbon-free bike commuting; and baby boomers, who are retiring at a rate of 10,000 per day and are drawn to the unparalleled comfort and convenience.
With the goal of adding 50 new dealers by the end of 2017, TerraTrike anticipates hiring an additional dealer sales team member before the summer.
