Spoke length... and - any alternate hubs?

Assuming stock wheel hubs and rims, what length spokes does the Cruiser use?

2nd question - are there any alternate hubs that fit the Cruiser with "higher specs" than the stock ones?

From my own research into building my own trike, there are very few manufacturers of trike specific hubs. In my opinion, the only thing that would make a different hub "higher spec" than the TerraTrike hub would be to upgrade the bearings from the standard ABEC 5s to ABEC 7s or ceramics, which is something you can do easily enough on your own.

  • Thanks jliewig for the reply. I appreciate the response. It coincides with what I've basically found thus far. Kinda hard for me to believe the wheel hubs and rims on the under $1000 trikes are the same as the $3000plus ones though.

Too bad no one at TT cares to respond about the spoke length question.

Best thing for a quick answer, is to send an email or call the 800 number.
  • Per our lead tech, spoke lengths are as follows:

    Front wheel
    non-disc side: 177mm
    disc side: 179mm

    Rear wheel

    non-drive side: 190mm
    drive (cassette) side: 188mm

Any hub that uses a 20mm ID (inner diameter) sealed bearings can be used on our hubs. Velocity would be a good upgraded hub in comparison to ours.

  • I appreciate the reaction. It correlates with what I've generally discovered thus far.
