New to trikes & have first question.

edited October 2012 in Legacy Products
Just picked up a Path 8 Spd from Craig's list & am sooooo excited. Have to replace the tubes & do a lube & tune. Any thoughts on adjusting the wheel alignment? I mean, the manual calls for parallel, but I have read about adding a bit of toe-in. Any thoughts?
Any way to date this trike? Just so I know how old the components are. Maybe it doesn't matter, as it doesn't have many miles on it. just curious. I'll probably ask a few more questions, 'cause it won't be until Monday before I can work on it, so all I can do is obsess until then.

Cheers,
kev

  • Welcome.

My mechanical ability is limited to taking my trike to the LBS and saying "Fix it". There are many helpful folks here to answer all your questions (and lead you to new ones). On youtube there are videos to fix all kinds of things on your trike. If you look all over this site, you can find out lots of things. Some of the guys have made a toe-in bar to help them set it up right.

I hope you have as much fun with your trike as I have with mine.

  • Here is a link to the video on how to adjust your wheel alignment. It is always a good idea to check this, especially if someone else owned the trike. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIH60gxGQdw

OK, thanks. I watched a video, but it stopped before the info about toe-in & frame flex & all.

    Thanks,

You tube does that once in awhile. Just select it again. It's all there.
  • No way to date the trike, but it can't be more than 3 years old as the Path was introduced in '09 I believe.

    Thanks Kelli!
  • I did not count my links... but when I replaced my chain I just lined up my old chain and put the new on next to it... lined up the links and cut the chain at the appropriate place
