  • Thanks, JamesR. New owners of Velocity Pro Cycle are the former technicians. One is retired ME, Brad. Adam did the work on this and is a craftsman.
  • Thank you, all. I think I'm on the right track here. Going to talk to the new owners at Velocity Pro (former techs Brad and Adam). Brad is a fabrication whiz. Pretty sure he can figure a mount. Now about that JumboTron ...
  • JamesR ... if I have two rings on front, the slack will be in the front chain, not the rear/drive chain. Rear hub take up want help. What am I missing?
  • JamesR ... Bafang/Tandem actually exceeds my expectations. I chose the BBSHD on advice from Elrique and 48V instead of 52V for longevity on someone elses. On most rides, I'm pulling my weight and that of the stoker so the 42T chain wheel was just to…
  • AZTandemPro Lol. I took one look at the Pro, salivated a bit, then acknowledged Vickie would never get to a seat that low. Rover is perfect height. If we can stay well and in the right temperature range, I think it will be with us a while. Riding…
  • I bought a used Rover Tandem last spring. The intent was for me to get exercise and my wife (who lost her vision in 2016) to enjoy the ride and contribute as she healed. Quickly found that I had difficulty pulling my weight and hers on significant h…
  • I'll chip in if you're still short.
  • I'm feeling badly about the 80 degree ride I'll be on about 5:00 PM :-(

  • Impressive. How in the world can a manufacturer assemble all those pieces and resell it for $233?? Would love to have something like this for Rover Tandem ... would have about 18" hanging out each side, I guess :-)
  • Hope to take the tandem to shop Monday for some tinkering and will pose some of this to head tech there. If shifting at front or rear is not possible, I may settle for mid 30's tooth chain wheel. I have NOT reprogrammed BBSHD ... maybe that's next.
  • JamesR, I'm reading you carefully and appreciate it. I've been from 32T stock, to 42T on Bafang BBSHD, back to 30T Mini from Luna that has offset to fit BBSHD. Since I want to pedal for exercise and use the assist for steeper hills (my stoker has he…
  • Hate to hear that. I spent time last night researching Nuvinci ... in case my Nexus gives out.
  • I see it now. Good idea. I had added reflective tape but that missing piece ...
  • The Rover Tandem I bought last year from a dealer's rental pool (think it's a 2014) has Shimano Nexus rear. I'm still tinkering with front chain wheel ... not happy with 30T, will move up to mid 30's when my fenders arrive. Could I put a two speed…
  • Finn59 ... not to hijack your post but do you mind telling me what the gizmo is attached to your bottom bracket by the single screw? Looks like an arm of some sort curving away with small circles embossed in the side. My used Rover Tandem had a piec…
  • 80's Tuesday thru Friday this week.
  • High 60's in Alabama today so I got in a short ride between rainstorms ... puddles on every trail. Ordering the fenders tonight. Had to go off trail to do a 180 turn and lost traction in the wet grass. Had to dismount to push back to the pavement. …
  • I really like using the Nexus internal BUT, as you say, you have to work around it.
  • Xray wrote: » I've had a BBS02 on our tandem trike, an Organic Engines Troika. We did 2000 miles last summer with it. We used a 36 tooth sprocket with an 11-32 8 speed on a 20" wheel. Top speed was in the low 20's but we had all the power we neede…
  • Probably need to investigate. I've had what I thought was chain slip under previous set up (stock). Wondered if my internal was wearing out. Very smooth most of the time though.
  • Due to the weather, some minor health issues, and a complicated real estate transaction, I haven't updated in some time. We have had a lot of fun with short rides between rain showers and cold waves. I'm way behind tweaking the set up BUT did a quic…
  • I'll echo the comments of others in thanking you for letting a newbie pick your brains after we acquired the tandem in March. You have been more than gracious to a newcomer. I trailered it down to VeloCity Pro this week to have a few more tweaks w…
  • 3.25 inches of snow with a 24 degree low in normally sub-tropic Tuscaloosa AL. I, too have been waylaid by respiratory issues during some beautiful weather. Squirrelpie0 gives me hope I can get back on the roads shortly without breaking the bank on …
  • My dealer recommended 2 for the tandem. Excellent advice ... left one views along my shoulder, the right I can watch Vickie's face as her audible reactions are not always immediate. Aim them anywhere, they stay.
  • I share many of your concerns, Florida_bound. We ride mostly neighborhoods but the connectors are two lane 25-45 mph with little shoulder, or worse, a curb. Hard to feel safe.
  • How do you make left turns from the bike path?
  • How about "Post Your Mods, Tech, innovations, Ideas" ?
  • I only recognize the Bionx name, not the performance specs but I just completed my 4th test ride on our Rover Tandem since a Bafang BBSHD was installed. At this point, we may have to much assist. I keep it in the 1 (of 9) settings and only increase …
  • We tried to ride at 7:00 AM all summer to avoid the heat. After school began we moved to 8:30 after traffic settled ... 90 degrees thru September. Rover Tandem tied up with conversions a couple of weeks so we missed some great weather. Hoping for so…
